After a few studious weeks, here is news from our observations at Tiputa. Changing weather and a host of male dolphins present throughout this week in March allowed us to make identifications both in the rain and under beautiful late-afternoon light.
18 individuals were observed and an update on pregnancies and births was established. We have confirmation that "Nina", who was thought to have given birth in January, lost the baby prematurely; it seems that the female has had difficulty having a calf since the weaning of her last daughter in 2017. However, new pregnancies have been identified among the dolphins, which we will follow closely. In addition, a male dolphin never seen before made a brief appearance, allowing us to add a "TP56" with a very distinctive physique to our catalogs.
